On What Remains
Meeting with Agnieszka Pajączkowska

What Will Remain is an attempt at revisiting Zofia Rydet’s Sociological Record.

The project’s participants printed out selected photographs from the Record and visited a few of the places, where the artist had made a stop; they sought out Rydet’s sitters, who recognized themselves or their relatives on these photographs from many years ago, and the pictures they received gained the status of family souvenirs; they compared the contemporary topography of the villages and townships with the photographic documentation, and tried to reconstruct, how Rydet used to work on-site, happening upon inconsistencies or errors in the descriptions of the pictures, and tracking the relationships between the subsequent frames of the negative.
