  • Self-portrait of the Poles?

Piotr Uklański ”Untitled (Pope John Paul II)”, 2004, collection of the Museum

The Open Musuem invites to a collateral cycle of debates and lecutres on the forthcoming exhibition of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw.

Two other outstanding Polish art collections: Museum of Art in Lódź (Correspondences. Modern Art and Universalism), and the 20th and 21st century galleries of the National Museum in Warsaw play an important role in shaping the self-portrait of the Poles. The series of discussions looks at pivotal collections of modern art, both state-owned and private, in an attempt to trace the image of Poland that they present, the stories they tell, and the perspectives they belong to.
