Description by Filmoteka Muzeum

Footage of Zygmunt Piotrowski's performance Struggle for Cultural Heritage, which took place in 2008 in Warsaw on the premises of the former Norblin factory.

By referring to the concept of heritage, the artist attempted a concretisation of his artistic activity, which he defined as an individual spiritual experience and a contemplation practice constrained by the rigour of the creative process.

In the work, the performer's body adopts the character of a living installation. The sole dynamic elements are the artist's hands and the moving images projected on his body. Interaction with the audience is reduced to the minimum. Piotrowski does not offer ready answers. The performance is akin to a ritual that requires an individual interpretation.

The footage was created by Józef Piwkowski.
