Dances provide a record of Olkiewicz’s research tests conducted in various urban spaces. The artist’s engagement during the portrayed events brings to mind an investigation of the relations between an individual and the surrounding environment.

Olkiewicz carries out performative activities in three different sites: railway station, stadium and a meadow in a park. In each of these locations his movements become different. While amidst a crowd unhurriedly traversing railway station halls, his steps need to remain focussed and constantly ready to change trajectory, whereas the empty areas of the stadium and park offer the artist’s movements an autonomy and liberate them from constraints. In his work, Olkiewicz reveals the spatial potential of the city, underscoring its climate and variety of faces.
